Below are short bios and contact information for the management staff at The Living Center.

Joan Levering, Director

Joan Levering graduated from Chester - Franklin High School in Morrow County and attended Ashland University. Her first job after high school was a secretarial position to the Assistant Sales Manager with Sun Glow Industries, Fredericktown, Ohio, manufacturing solid maple furniture. From there to Ashland University and then to Hydraulic Press Manufacturing in Morrow County in the Sales Office. She later married Bruce Levering and they ventured into the Health Care Profession. She was a stay at home mom for one girl and three boys, many pets, horses and ponies, tractors and a show string of Holstein Cattle that she and her husband helped the children show at many county and state fairs, as well as national shows. She decided to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and was in the first group in the State of Ohio to sit for the exam. She was the Administrator of Hillcrest Nursing Center, a 50 bed skilled rehabilitation facility in Richland County for 38 years.

Her daughter, Cindi Levering, is Corporate Nurse Practitioner for Levering Management, son William Levering is CEO of Levering Management, Mount Vernon, Kenneth Levering is Administrator of Delaware Court Healthcare Center in Delaware, Ohio. Son, Jeff Levering is our Farm Manager and General Manager of Leve-Agriman Feed Company in Fredericktown. Joan has twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren to round out her life...lots of sporting events!

Barb Brenneman, Business Office Manager

Barb Brenneman graduated from Ottawa-Glandorf High School in Ottawa, Ohio and the University of Dayton with a degree in Business Management. After graduation, Barb worked for Lazarus Dept. Stores in Dayton. She married her husband Doug and relocated to his hometown of Mount Vernon and began working for Adecco Employment Services as a Service Supervisor and Office Manager. After the birth of her first son, Barb became a stay at home mom, while staying very busy in a variety of volunteer positions.

Barb was thrilled to return to work for The Living Center and is thankful to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful generation of people.

Barb and her husband Doug reside in Mount Vernon. They are the parents of three boys, Mathew, John and Joe.

Peggi Springer, Program-Community Outreach Director

Peggi Springer designs and implements an activities/recreation/community outreach calendar for the residents at The Living Center. A sampling of the events she organizes include a holiday open house, Mother's Day dinner, high tea, Distinguished Young Women's reception, Dan Emmett flower show, Flag Day Ceremony, Out To Breakfast Club, Men's Day Out, theme mealsand an Oktoberfest party. In addition, she is the queen mum of the Sassie Lassie Red Hatters.

Peggi graduated from Mount Vernon High School. She received her activity professional's certification from Marion Technical College. She has attended numerous activity professional seminars. She is an accomplished pianist and composer and has performed at weddings, school graduations, parties and other events. Her cooking and baking talents have won her various awards and recognition throughout Knox County.

Peggi feels that her love for the senior population is her greatest gift and making them feel special is a top priority. She has found that through her music she has been able to touch many lives.

Peggi resides in Mount Vernon and is the mother of four children: Stephanee Stump of Indiana, Sam Springer and Erick Springer, both of Mount Vernon, and Jeff Springer of Columbus. She has ten grandchildren.
